Tamworth secured valuable points in this closely fought match on Saturday wining by the odd goal in seven. The town side started well putting Uttoxeter under a lot of pressure in the early stages and were rewarded with a Claire Miles goal from a well taken short corner strike. The town side then struggled to keep possession and Uttoxeter came back strongly scoring two goals to go into the break 2-1 up.
In the second session the game remained evenly balanced with both sides creating opportunities, Kate Caddick was outstanding at the heart of Tamworth’s defence making a number of timely tackles and interceptions to keep the town side in the game before Elaine Foxley scored, she was the quickest to react as the ball hit the post and came back out she fired into the net, shortly after the goal of the game gave Tamworth the lead quick passing between Claire Miles and Anne Marshall set up Elaine Foxley for her second. But Uttoxeter hit back again to level the scores once more and the game looked to be heading for a draw, after forcing a number of short corners a well worked routine was converted by Claire Miles to give the town a valuable win.
