Match Report |
Tamworth’s impressive form continued on Saturday as they beat local rivals Lichfield 6-1. The town side made the perfect start to the game scoring in the first minute through Claire Miles, but Lichfield hit back quickly to equalise. The town side had plenty of possession with Anne Marshall very impressive down the right flank causing many problems for the Lichfield defence with her pace, and setting up a number of goal scoring opportunities , Di Milner scored twice and Claire Miles got her second of the game to give Tamworth a 4-1 lead. The town side kept up the pressure in the second session with Elaine Foxley and Kirsty Wright both going close to increasing the lead, Lichfield applied some pressure of their own forcing a number of short corners but were unable capitalise on this as Tamworth defence and goalkeeper Vicky Butler made a number of good clearances. A strong run from Elaine Foxley gave the town side their fifth goal as her shot was deflected into the goal before Claire Miles completed her hat- trick. League and team POM Anne Marshall |
