Match Report | Tamworth First XI completed their 100% winning pre-season schedule with a third win after a comprehensive victory 5-0 over Leamington. Tamworth started strongly and were camped in Leamington’s half from the off and were rewarded with three first half goals. The first came when a shot from the left by Nick Martin was saved and Dylan Waldren turned the ball back across the face of goal as it took a deflection into the net. Tom Hancox then doubled the advantage, after a break by Ryan Brisco and Martin, with a strike from the left which was once again turned into the goal by a Leamington defender. The third goal followed soon after with Hancox breaking away down the left and drawing the ‘keeper before cutting it back for Tom Sperrink to tap in reverse stick. In the second half the onslaught continued and Tamworth played excellent possession hockey with fluid movement all over the pitch. Sperrink got his second and Tamworth’s fourth when Hancox squared from the left for Sperrink to turn the ball home. Tom Beasley completed the days scoring when he broke from midfield to collect a pass and beat the ‘keeper. Preparations could not have been better for the new season and the style with which Tamworth completed this win was particularly encouraging. |
