Tamworth Men's 2nds faced local rivals Atherstone in their last pre season warm up match. Tamworth started strongly and were rewarded with early goals from Calder and Shakespeare, who looked sharp in his first game since returning to Tamworth. Some neat defending kept a sprightly Atherstone at bay in the first period.
It was more of the same in the second period as Hancox and Beasley added to the scoring for Tamworth. Atherstone added a few late consolation goals to ensure a tighter finish to the match but it was Tamworth who were always going to come out on top in the encounter. |
