Match Report | The ladies thirds took on Leek on Saturday with a mixed team hoping to beat the side they drew to earlier in the season. It was Leek who took an early lead following a goalmouth scramble, but once the town side settled they started to play much better Kate Caddick, Elaine Foxley and Nadia Williams working hard in midfield and equalised from another goalmouth scramble following a short corner Bea Kinahan scoring, to go into the break all square. Tamworth made some changes to their formation at half time with Wendy Garrett stepping up to left half and pushing youngsters up front to use their pace. Fantastic defending from Audrey Warburton, Sam Bowyer, Vicky Sanford and GK Lisa Moore kept the leek forwards at bay, before another short corner routine paid dividends for the town side Di Milner’s pass finding Bea Kinahan whose well timed shot gave Tamworth the lead. Tamworth continued to work hard all over the pitch to keep their lead in tact to record a well-deserved win that moves them up to third in the league. POM Nadia Williams. |
