Match Report | The ladies thirds returned to league hockey on Saturday and ran out comfortable winners against Bloxwich. In an open first half the game flowed end to end although neither side were able to keep sustained possession both sides did create goal scoring opportunities and from one of these Bloxwich took the lead. The town side responded almost immediately Claire Miles scoring a fine individual goal and the score remained level at the break. A more disciplined second half performance from Tamworth saw them enjoy more possession Nadia Williams and Tilly Bryan used their pace to great effect down the right flank with Emily Barker putting in a solid performance using the ball really well on the left. An early breakthrough for Tamworth came when Jo Cliffe saw her shot illegally stopped on the line, Claire Miles stepped up to take the resulting flick to give the town the lead. A Bloxwich short corner was well defended and quickly turned into an attack as the ball was cleared to Nadia Williams who combined well with Bea Kinahan to set up Tilly Bryan for Tamworth’s third. Bea Kinahan capped another fine performance with Tamworth’s fourth, the town then withstood some late pressure from their opponents but their defence held firm and they ran out comfortable winners.
