Match Report | The ladies thirds were unlucky to lose out in this nine goal thriller on Saturday, with both sides recording convincing wins in their opening league games this proved to be a very entertaining game. Abbotsholme started the brighter and enjoyed the better of the opening exchanges forcing a number of short corners and although the town side defended them well the pressure soon told as they took the lead converting from another corner. As Tamworth began to settle their midfield passed the ball around nicely, debutant Bea Kinahan had a brilliant game combining well with Tilly Bryan down the right flank, the town side enjoyed their best spell of the game Di Milner equalised midway through the half with Claire Miles and Elaine Foxley extending the towns lead with well executed strikes. Abbotsholme pulled a goal back from another corner but Tamworth were unlucky not to extend their lead further as they had a goal disallowed and Tilly Bryan saw her shot go just wide. Abbotsholme hit back once again to go into the break all square. As with the first half it was the town’s opponents that started the brighter and once again took their chances scoring twice. To the towns credit they kept pushing forward and did create a number of chances before Di Milner got her second of the game to set up a nervy few minutes for the away team as Tamworth pressed forward looking for the equaliser but the goal just didn’t come.
