Tamworth Ladies Firsts Vs Edgbaston 2s

This was the ladies first game of the season and league games start next week.

We had 3 players playing their debut game for the 1st team, Connie joining us from Barton and two club youngsters Tara Wylie and Charlotte Hicks.  The team started brightly passing the ball quickly and creating plenty of space and had a few chances on goal but Edgbastons defence were hard to break down.  Edgbaston also created a few chances and went ahead from a short corner not long before half time.

Tamworth came out strong in the second half, the ball being passed around the back and there was numerous fine individual performances.  Tamworth’s 1st goal came from open play and struck home by Gemma Rowe, shortly afterwards Charley Rowe was passed the ball just over the half way line and as soon as she got into the ‘D’ she took a shot which proved successful.  Connie and Nicky shared the goal keeping role and both made some good saves.  Charlotte Hicks and Tara Wylie had fabulous games, the confidence of both players not shy in driving forward and taking on the opposition and making shots on goal.  The third goal came from Tara, her composure on the ball was outstanding, she took the ball round 2 defenders and then she wrong footed the keeper and placed the ball over the line.  A very encouraging friendly with a great team performance.
