Match Report | The ladies 2’s final game of the season saw them record their biggest league win beating Stone 9-3 to secure fourth spot in Staffs Division 2. Tamworth dominated from the start with the town’s midfield controlling the tempo of the game and moving the ball around with confidence. Kate Caddick, Nadia Williams and Elaine Foxley combined well down the right creating all sorts of problems for the Stone defence. Foxley opened the scoring when her shot was deflected wrong footing the goalkeeper. Gemma Wheelhouse capped a fine performance with two brilliantly taken goals the first from open play and the second from a well worked short corner routine, Claire Miles added a fourth before half time. The town side continued to play some lovely hockey in the second half building attacks from defence, Nadia Williams scored two second half goals before Captain Anne Marshall got on the scoresheet to put Tamworth in total control, a momentary loss of concentration allowed Stone back in the game as they enjoyed a good spell of possession scoring three times in quick succession, but the town side regrouped with Claire Miles adding two goals the first with a neat deflection, her second saw her shot deflected past the keeper to complete the rout.
