Match Report | Tamworth Men's First XI lost their final game of the season 7-3 away at Buxton. In a topsy turvy game Tamworth started sloppily and conceded twice with Buxton able to get in behind and cross too easily. Town quickly bounced back however, Ben Marshall capping an impressive debut season with a fifth goal of the season when he converted a cross from the right. Tamworth then equalised with Tom Hancox working his way in from the right before poking his shot inside the near post at the second attempt. It was then another rebound that gave Town a half time lead as a cross was miscontrol and pinched by Tom Sperrink who scored from the rebound. Tamworth maintained their lead for the early stages of the second half but were opened up time and again as they struggled to keep pace with the game with no substitutes available. Town currently sit third in the table but are relying on other results to remain there but are guaranteed a top 5 finish to a strange season which sees them finish with 9 wins and 3 draws from 22 games. |
