Match Report | Tamworth Men's First XI were beaten 6-1 away to high flying Atherstone on Saturday. Tamworth left themselves a mountain to climb as they gifted two early goals to the hosts before conceding a third still in the opening 10 minutes of the game. Once Tamworth cut out the sloppy mistakes they competed well for the rest of the half with Ian Wagstaff denied from a penalty corner and both sides carrying a threat. The second half was decided by clinical finishing as Tamworth were denied by the Atherstone keeper and the post it was the home team who took their chances to stretch to a six goal lead. Tamworth eventually pulling a goal back when Tom Hancox struck a shot low into the corner for his tenth goal of the season and ninth in the league. |
