Tamworth Ladies Firsts Vs Towcester

Tamworth bounced back this week with a great performance against top of the league Towcester. Our intention to start was for Tamworth to keep possession and settle into the game as the weather was always going to make it very difficult.  We had the majority of the play with a couple of chances being denied and it was an end to end game with both teams having opportunities and Towcester opened the scoring through an easy interception.  Tamworth continued to apply pressure and the equaliser came from open play through Gemma Rowe to make it 1-1 at half time.

Tamworth continued to pressurise Towcesters defence, short triangular passing between Charley Rowe, Jo Goode on the right and Gemma Rowe on the left and the creative movement from Meg Jacobs, Amie Hyde and Katie Evans up front caused Towcester problems.  Jo Goode received the ball outside Towcesters 23 and drove into the ‘d’, shot and scored.  Towcester continued to counterattack but the defensive control of Rachel Rowe, Sarah Arnold, Becky Moore and Lucy Plant lead from the back by goalie Nicky Youngman kept them at bay.  Tamworths 3rd goal came from a great individual run from Katie Evans who went round a couple of players and chipped the ball over the keeper.
