Match Report

All players produced their best games of the season in this tough game against relegation battling Leek.  Tamworth started brightly with some excellent passing moves throughout the whole pitch.  The first goal came following a lovely move from a long corner which saw Claire Miles hit the ball out wide to Paula Cooper, who returned it to Miles, then passed to Tara Wiley who returned the ball to Miles who dispatched it into the net with force.   Leek looked dangerous on the break and equalised before half time.  Tamworth didn't lose focus and held strong at the back with Sam Bowyer having an excellent game in central defence.  Youngsters Tara Wylie and Eden Collier bossed the midfield , with Wylie cutting into the Leek defence every time she got the ball.  Only excellent shot stopping by the Leek keeper kept the score level until Miles again scored from open play, this time from the right after good work with Anne Marshall who had her best game of the season running down the wing and crossing with pace.  A second shot from a short corner gave Miles a well-deserved hat trick and all 3 points to Tamworth.   Wylie and Collier were deservedly voted league and club players of the match.
