Match Report

With league fixtures starting next week it was important for Tamworth to have a positive game.  They did just that with sharp passing moves that worked around the opposition. With Paula cooper sweeping in the middle of the defence youngster Eden Twiglet Collier was free to run the line on the left, tracking and tackling well and working brilliantly with her mum Jacqui Casey in midfield.  Within 10 minutes gemma wheelhouse picked the ball up on the 23yard line and weaved through the defence to crack the ball into the back of the net to open the scoring. Stafford equalised through a well struck short corner that 13 year old Ethan Oxley, stepping in due to a keeper shortage, was unable to reach. He did keep very well throughout the game making a number of excellent saves. After the break Fiona wylie cut through the defence to score a great individual goal and then another mum and daughter, claire and Charlotte frazzle hicks, combined very well for mum claire to score Tamworth's third. A few minutes later Wylie then made an inch perfect cross into the D for hicks to get her second.  Stafford scored a consolation second from a quick break. All players worked hard to the end of the match and will go into the first league game with confidence.
