Match Report | The ladies thirds extended their unbeaten run to eight games with another confident performance against an experienced WATS side, goals from Claire Miles, Elaine Foxley and Di Milner who have now scored 38 league goals between them was enough for a 3-2 win. Tamworth started well enjoying lots of possession, with 13 year old Katie Garrett making her league debut alongside youngsters Sophie Marshall, Nadia Williams and Tilly Bryan who combined well and using their pace down the right flank to create a number of opportunities unfortunately for the town these were well saved or defended by WATS. The towns pressure finally told when a flowing move from the back involving Sam Bowyer, Kate Caddick and Elaine Foxley found Di Milner in the ‘D’ who made no mistake with her first time shot, but it was WATS who scored next somewhat against the run of play with a well taken short corner strike just before half time to go into the break all square. The town side continued to press forward in the second half with their midfield quartet controlling the play; Claire Miles scored the towns second before an excellent strike from Elaine Foxley gave Tamworth a two goal cushion. With town side seemingly in control of the game a lapse in concentration gifted WATS a second goal but they regrouped quickly and WATS never threatened their goal again and Tamworth really should have added to their tally but the score remained 3-2 to the home side moving them to third place just outside the automatic promotion spots.
