Match Report | The ladies seconds returned to league action on Saturday with a trip to Uttoxeter but came away with a disappointing defeat. Tamworth made a lacklustre start to the game and were put under pressure from their opponents from the start and only some excellent saves from goalkeeper Lisa Moore and some last ditch defending kept the scores level. The town side began to settle with youngsters Elissa Morris and Meg Hogben impressing again, working tirelessly up and down the flanks. Tamworth won a number of short corners in the first half but were unable to convert and the sides went into the break all square. The second half saw Uttoxeter once again enjoy a greater share of the play and they capitalised on a couple of mistakes to score two quick goals. To Tamworth’s credit they never gave up as they pushed forward looking to hit back, Harriet Gilman epitomised this effort as she had an excellent game up front and was unlucky not to score on a couple of occasions. Tamworth must now regroup as they now face all the teams around them as they look to secure valuable points. League POM Claire Miles Team POM Harriet Gilman |
