Match Report | Tamworth Men’s First XI were beaten 6-1 at home to Leicester Westleigh to leave them rooted in a relegation battle. The game saw both teams look to get on the front foot and attacks swung from end to end. This pattern was mirrored by the goals in the first half as Leicester took the lead with a strike from a penalty corner before Tamworth responded with one of their own, as Ian Wagstaff stepped up and drilled this shot into the bottom corner to level the scores. Ryan Brisco was the hosts stand out player in the first period as he looked to set Tamworth on a number of attacks but they were unable to find a further goal before the break. The second half was a disaster for Tamworth as they leaked goals at regular intervals and lost their shape as they went chasing the goals needed to get back into the game and the visitors ran out convincing winners by the end. Tamworth are still only one point from safety but have key fixtures over the coming weeks where they must pick up points to have a chance of staying in the division. |
