Match Report | The ladies thirds faced local rivals Lichfield on Saturday but came away empty handed; it was Lichfield who started the brighter passing the ball around nicely with an early opportunity thwarted by goal keeper Vicky Butler who cleared the ball well. A good move down the left flank resulted in a great cross and finish to give Lichfield the lead. Tamworth responded well and had chances of their own but were unable to convert them, and Lichfield added to their tally with cracking shot to give them a 2-0 half time lead. The second session was fairly evenly contested although Tamworth slightly shaded possession but again were unable to take their chances. Lichfield were quick on the break but the towns defence held firm with Kate Caddick making a number of superb tackles. There were good performances from Wendy Garrett and Jo Bryan but Tamworth’s star player and voted League POM was Captain Lesley Broadway. |
