Match Report | The ladies thirds returned to league hockey this week with a convincing 5-0 win over Leek, however it was the visitors who almost took the lead within the first minute as they attacked from the off, Tamworth’s defence scrambled the ball away but then conceded a penalty corner which was thankfully cleared. After this early scare the town side regrouped quickly and took control of the game as they dominated possession and took the lead through Chris Mander. Grace Bostock made her third team debut and was involved in most of Tamworth’s good attacking play, Elaine Foxley and Lesley Broadway added more goals to give the town side a 3-0 half time lead. The second session played out much the same as the first as Tamworth enjoyed the greater share of possession and limited Leek to the odd break away attack but defender Sian Barrett was in fine form and cleared any danger. Leek were indebted to their goal keeper who made a number of excellent saves from Grace Bostock and Meg Hogben but was eventually beaten by Wendy Garrett and Elaine Foxley with her second of the game to ensure the town side a well-deserved win.
