Match Report | A mixed thirds and fourths team travelled to Bloxwich on Saturday and came away with a hard fought victory. The town side struggled to find any rhythm to their play in the early stages of the half with Bloxwich enjoying the greater share of possession and forcing a number of short corners, from one of which they took a well-deserved lead. Bloxwich then had an opportunity to increase their lead when they were awarded a penalty but goal keeper Vicky Butler saved the flick to keep Tamworth in the game. As the town side began to settle they played some nice hockey and a fine run and cross from Sheri Allsopp found Kate Caddick, who had timed her run to perfection, unmarked in the ‘D’ to slot home for the equaliser. Tamworth then took the lead with the last hit of the half through Claire Miles. The second session saw the town side play with more urgency keeping possession and passing the ball around with more pace, youngsters Nadia Williams, Tilly Bryan and Meg Hogben all grew in confidence as the game when on, with Wendy Garrett having an excellent game at the heart of Tamworth’s defence snuffing out many Bloxwich attacks, at the other end the town side just couldn’t apply the finishing touches to a number of promising attacks but they held on for the win.
