Match Report | Tamworth ladies 3rds, with a distinctly different line up from the previous week, found themselves pitched against a strong Leek side and as usual for our annual journey to Leek the rain was falling heavily. Midway through the first half the new look team had settled down well to produce some good play, with some great passing moves. However by this time Tamworth already found themselves two down thanks to a well taken Leek short corner and a somewhat scrappy goal. Tamworth rallied well with great saves from Vicky Butler, in goal, and good defensive work from new girl Sian Barrett and Jo Bryan. Shortly before half time, Tamworth conceded a penalty stroke which was ably saved by Butler. As the game wore on the endless running of Di Milner and Elaine Foxley produced some great opportunities resulting in short corners but the Leek goalkeeper was equal to the shots and their stalwart defence frustrated the Tamworth forwards. As the game wore on Leek earned several short corners and an outstanding strike extended their lead. Shortly after the tiring defence were unable to keep out Leek's fourth. Despite a great effort and some promising passing moves Tamworth were unable to capitalise on their great start to the season.
