Tamworth produced their most disappointing display of the season, falling 4-2 at home to Bloxwich. A lacklustre start from the hosts saw them go 2 behind in the first half with Bloxwich piling on the pressure and with Tamworth clearly rattled they found themselves temporarily down to 10 men with Langford sin binned for dissent. Tamworth rallied somewhat with Briscoe forcing the keeper into an athletic diving save from his reverse stick strike but had few other shots of note. The half time break did little to lift the level of performance and Bloxwich added a third from a short corner before the umpires inexplicably missed the ball being run out of play enabling Bloxwich to add a fourth. The displeasure shown by Tamworth resulted in further yellow cards but a late rally from Tamworth provided some hope with previously carded Wagstaff and Hancox both making amends firing home excellent strikes low beyond the keeper. A late save from a short corner ended further hopes of a comeback and Tamworth will need to respond in the 3 remaining matches leading up to Christmas to continue the challenge for the promotion places. |
