Match Report | Tamworth held onto top spot following a 3-0 win away against Bloxwich, in a potentially tricky fixture.
Although the squad was carrying a couple of minor injuries a strong line up turned out at Bloxwich and Tamworth got off to the perfect start. Moore laid the ball through to Sperrink who had time to place his shot into the right hand corner. The visitors extended the lead soon after when a short corner routine saw two shots blocked before Herring was able to force the ball over the line with the aid of a deflection off a defender. The onslaught continued and when a shot from Hancox was blocked Sperrink was able to shoot beyond the stranded ‘keeper and double his tally for the day.
Bloxwich came out much stronger after the break and had a significant amount of pressure in the early stages of the second half and Goode was forced to make a couple of last ditch tackles however Langford and Acheson marked the home forwards tightly and Pipe showed quick reactions to help maintain the 3 goal lead. The game became more fractured later on and despite impressive displays from Brisco and Calder keeping the Bloxwich defence on their toes, Tamworth will be particularly pleased to record back-to-back clean sheets and wins. |
