Tamworth went into the game against Nottingham Uni needing to pick up some points. From the start, Tamworth looked the better side & this was rewarded within the first 5 minutes of the game after a well worked attack down the right hand side saw Gemma Rowe slot the ball into the goal from her reverse side. This gave town some confidence & they continued to be the better side throughout the first half doubling their lead with a great strike from Claire Hicks at the top of the D. Tamworth had plenty of opportunities throughout the first half to triple their lead, it eventually came after a ball through the middle from Gemma Rowe to Stevie Oversby who had a 1 on 1 opportunity with the keeper & after great skill the ball saw the back of the net. Nottingham uni didn't give up & before half time got a goal back. After half time the game flipped on its head & it was Nottingham Uni who looked the better side and after some well worked penalty corners saw themselves back in the game at 3-2. Tamworth defended their hearts out & after a continuous spurt of short corners still found themselves in the lead! However, after a well worked attack down the left hand side, Nottingham uni found the back of the net to make the game 3-3. Tamworth didn't give up & fought until the end, they had numerous chances to take the lead once more & after a controversial decision at the end of the game Tamworth were awarded a penalty flick to which Gemma Rowe hit the post so the game ended 3-3. Tamworth were happy with a well deserved point & go on to next weeks game confident they will pick up another result. Player of the match went to Fiona Wylie who did not stop running all game.
