Match Report

The ladies thirds finished their league campaign on a high with their best performance of the season to beat third placed Bloxwich 4-1 on Saturday.  The town side made a sluggish start to the game as they were put under pressure from Bloxwich, but Tamworth's defence held firm making some good tackles and clearances with goal keeper Lisa Moore also making a number of good saves.  On their first meaningful attack Tamworth opened the scoring when Hannah Jarvis and Elissa Morris combined well to set up Di Milner. Tamworth started to grow in confidence as they began to pass the ball around nicely with youngsters Elissa Morris, Hannah Jarvis and Meg Hogben having a big influence on the game.  A slick short corner routine saw Elaine Foxley double the towns lead to go into the break two nil up.

A superb 20 minute spell at the start of the second session saw the town side dominate the proceedings with the pace of Jarvis and Morris causing the Bloxwich defence many problems. Brilliant build up play from the back resulted in Elissa Morris slipping the ball to Claire Miles on the top of the 'D' whose first time shot flew into the top corner for the town's third goal, Elaine Foxley added a fourth soon after to give Tamworth a commanding lead.  Bloxwich scored a consolation late on but Tamworth claimed a well- deserved win. League and team player of the match Elissa Morris.
