Tamworth Men's First XI were beaten 5-2 at home to Nottingham Trent University. Town took a strong side but fell 3-0 down in the opening 20 minutes as sloppy passing gifted Trent opportunities that they capitalised on.
The hosts finally got a foothold in the game with Ian Wagstaff having a flicked effort saved before Ben Robins won the ball in the edge of the D and coolly converted into the bottom corner. Tamworth then scored again with Tom Hancox finding space before smashing a shot in to leave Tamworth just a goal down at the break.
In the second half Town continued to be positive but were unable to find an equaliser only for Trent to score again and although Tamworth put in a spirited showing Trent had the final say as they scored from a penalty corner with the final move of the game.
Tamworth face a double header this weekend against high flying Derwent on Saturday before a crunch relegation fixture against Buxton on Sunday.
