Match Report | TAMWORTH seconds hit some scorching early season form to trounce Wellingborough with five-goal Tom Shakespeare the main destroyer. Attacking from the start, Tamworth went ahead when Shakespeare drew three defenders before slipping the ball to Jez Holloway for a tap-in. Despite Griffin and Corden enjoying complete dominance down the flanks, Tamworth only added one goal – a solo Shakespeare effort – before half time. When Wellingborough pulled a goal back after the break, to make it 2-1, a close game looked possible. But this signalled a breathtaking response as the Town side added seven unanswered goals. Goals came via Shakespeare (5), Holloway (2), Bowyer and Goode as the visitors defence was bypassed time and again. Although Shakespeare was man of the match, this was a complete team performance. |
