Tamworth Men's 1's extended their lead at the top of East Midlands Div 1 on Saturday with what turned out to be a comfortable win against mid table Kettering.
Tamworth dominated the first half but failed to capitalise on their chance, first team debutant Dan Rhodes coming the closest before the interval.
In the second period Tamworth took their game up a level, and opening the scoring when Dan Rhodes found himself in the right place at the right time to tap in for his first goal for the First team.
Town then quickly wrapped up the game with Ryan Brisco in hand to snatch the second and Rhodes again to make it 3-0. The game was put beyond Kettering when veteran defender Dave Langford made a darting run down the right and smashed in a precision cross to Captain Tom Hancox who converted with style.
Tamworth have a clear lead at the top of this division now and will look to secure promotion in the next few games. They face an away trip to Newark on Saturday followed by a chance to progress into the Semi-finals of the cup with a trip to Hereford on Sunday.
