Match Report | Tamworth Men's First XI suffered their first defeat of the season, falling 4-1 away to Oundle. Tamworth had started poorly and Oundle heaped the pressure on and scored following a series of penalty corners. Then followed Tamworth's best period of the game as they went on the offensive, levelling when Ian Wagstaff played Tom Sperrink in behind and he squared for Ryan Brisco to score his sixth league goal of the season from a tight angle. Town then had a series of penalty corners but found the Oundle keeper in inspired form as he kept out shot after shot, with Wagstaff especially unlucky to see his low shot toed away. This proved to be Tamworth's best chances and Oundle came back to score again to lead 2-1 at half time. In the second half Oundle dominated and scored twice more as Tamworth struggled to break through and eventually lost their shape and fluency chasing the game but Town will look to next weeks game against bottom of the table Ashbourne. |
