Match Report | The ladies thirds finished the first half of their league campaign with a disappointing loss to Stone. Despite the difficult conditions the town side made the better start putting Stone immediately on the back foot and were rewarded with a goal in the opening five minutes from Elaine 'the fox in the box' Foxley following good work from Bethan Gilbert. Tamworth's lead was short lived as Stone hit back immediately to level the scores. The rest of the half was evenly contested with both sides having opportunities to add to their score but good goal keeping from both keepers meant the scores stayed level at half time. In the second half Stone just edged the possession but it was the town side that created the early chances with Claire Miles and Di Milner both going close to scoring. Gemma Rowe in her first ever game in goal made some superb saves but was unable to keep out two excellent strikes that gave Stone the victory. Issy Hounsome and Marie Liepini-Liepa both had excellent games with League and Team POM awards going to Gemma Rowe. |
