Match Report | Following promotion to Staffordshire Division 2 last season the ladies thirds started their league campaign against Stone 2’s on Saturday. The town side took time to settle to the faster pace of the game and were immediately put on the back foot but the defensive back line held firm and were ably supported by goal keeper Lisa Moore. Tamworth almost took the lead with their first attack when Elaine Foxley broke free only to be denied by a good save from the keeper. But it was Stone who broke the deadlock scoring after a goal mouth scramble, the town side equalised on the stroke of half time following a super move down the right Sarah Price, Becky Busby and Di Milner setting up Elaine Foxley who fired home. The town played with more confidence in the second half as they enjoyed more possession creating a number of chances but were disappointed in the way they conceded two more goals to go down 3-1, but were pleased with their performance showing that they can compete at this level.
